The ULD-300 utilizes innovative technology to locate leaks quickly and efficiently. When leaks occur, they often generate an ultrasonic frequency that is beyond the range of human hearing. This same frequency is also generated by failing bearings or arcing electrical systems. Amprobe’s exceptional ULD-300 converts these ultrasounds into an audible range. The Amprobe ULD-300 ultrasonic leak detector has a variety of applications. It is the go to tool for sensing pressurized leaking gas, detecting electrical arcing around switches and electrical panels, and finding failing solenoids, valves, and bearings in electrical automotive, heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) maintenance applications. It detects any pressurized leaking gas, including chlorofluorocarbon (CFCs), hydrofluorocarbon (HFCs), nitrogen (N), carbon dioxide (CO2), pressurized air and steam – not meant for use with explosive gases. The presence of wind or airborne contaminants, such as refrigerants, does not affect its operation. Additionally, the presence of significant background noise, such as heavy machinery, motors etc., does not affect its ability to find small leaks. This is because the ultrasounds are in a different frequency range than typical industrial noises. HOW IT WORKS: The ULD-300 microphone senses high frequency sound waves from 35 kHz to 45 kHz. The ULD-300 re-modulates the ultrasounds to a lower frequency that can be heard by the human ear via headphones included in the kit. A display panel with ten light-emitting diodes (LEDs) indicates when the sensor is close to the source of the leak and a low-battery indicator signals when the meter's batteries need to be replaced.
