Ridgid Model 377 review

Pros: Straightforward to use
Cons: For the money
Recommended: Yes
I used it on 3/8 stainless steel (304) hardline, with a 0.028inch wall thickness, for a 37 degree AN flare, for a custom automotive fuel line and it created a nice smooth flare. I can't comment on how good it would be on wall thicknesses greater than this however. The stainless tube was annealed which makes life easier too. Appears to be well built tool. I bought from Toolup.com because the ebay international postage was competitive.

Pros: gets the job done
Cons: handle isnt necessary and gets in the way

You need a wrench to flare any tough metals and the handle is then pointless and just gets in the way of a wrench. Would be nice to have a hex head on the end for tightening.

Flawless flares
By Tom on 04/18/2012
Quality:

Pros: Awesome tool, flawless flares
Cons: More bearing life would be nice
Recommended: Yes
This tool performs flawlessly on 37 degree flares and have never had it make a bad one after three years of service. However, the bearing life will diminish after a while and make it very hard to turn the knob to make a flare. You will have to send it in for repair and wait a long time for the factory to return the item. Buy another one as a spare if you depend on this tool in any production operation.

Great. Tool for the cost and the quality of the flares are just the same as my $400 imperial eastman...

Pros: Very high quality tool that works perfectly
Cons: Price is high. No storage box to keep it in.

I needed an AN flare tool and this one appeared to be the best out there. I agree. I am very impressed with the quality of this tool and the accuracy and quality of the flares are outstanding. I do believe it is a bit overpriced even though the quality is high. You also do not get any type of storage case...which is a big oversight in my opinion. Other than that, it is a great tool I am glad I bought.
