Pros: You can re-use fittings and filter housings
Cons: Instructions are wrong!
Recommended: Yes
I used this to remove 1" sch 40 PVC from two spin down filter housings. The housings are $50.00 each so this tool saved me money. I used a cordless drill on low to medium speed. Don't go too fast or you will melt the PVC instead of getting nice long ribbons coming out. Dip the bit in water to prevent it from getting too hot. It leaves a rough surface inside the fitting but the new pipe glued up real nice with no leaks. I'm using 70 psi water pressure. I've read other reviews saying to only use it for DWV or non-pressurized applications. Hogwash. It works great for pressurized pipe. If the fit is too tight after "Rambitting", do a once in and once out to enlarge. Don't do it too much or the fit will be sloppy. The tool is not stainless steel because it is starting to rust after dipping in water. What do you expect for $20.00? The instructions were wrong! They said to "place the guide disk onto the arbor under the blade and secure firmly with nut". That's backwards. With the threaded part of the arbor UP, you put the blade on with the concave side down. Then install the proper size guide disk (really just a washer)and then install the nut. There is a Youtube video on how to use it. I just held the fitting with my hand on a firm surface and it worked fine. I suppose a vise would be better for larger fittings. All in all it worked great and I recommend this little tool.
