I had a Poulan Pro 18" which served me well for years. It finally required repairs which would have cost more than a new Poulan Pro, so I purchased a new one. Sad to say in the years since my first Poulan and its replacement the quality went down. It was difficult to start, would not idle at all, and having to restart it each time my finger left the throttle trigger was a real pain. So - I returned it and began a search for a well made saw. Before searching on the web and reading reviews I had never heard of Dolmar. Dolmar is now (since the 1990's) a division of Makita. I researched Dolmar saws, read nothing but great reviews, and decided to purchase this Makita twin. It is the same as the Dolmar other than color. When it arrived I filled it with fresh gas, bar oil, pulled the started cord ONCE and it has run like a champ ever since, and IDLES as well. I also enjoyed the fact that the manual explains the carburation settings, which I did not see in other manuals I looked at while researching. Great saw!
